Julien Gracq’s House

Maison Julien Gracq is an association created jointly by the Pays de la Loire Region and the City of Saint-Florent-le-Vieil. It manages the estate bequeathed by the author to the city of Saint-Florent-le-Vieil.

In 2014, Maison Julien Gracq opened its doors to the public in the former salt attic where a library was built, entirely renovated by the Chief Architect of Historic Monuments in France, Gabor Mester de Parajd. The white paints used on the wall and ceiling are intumescent paints, conferring a reaction to fire classification B, s1-d0.
